Christmas tree recycling. After the holiday season is over and you're ready to take the tree down here's what you need to know
At some point in the next several weeks you will want to know what to do with your Christmas tree, assuming you won't keep it up year-round and watch it dry out in your dwelling that is.
Bellevue's King County Transfer Station is available in Factoria. The Factoria Transfer Station has rules to follow for bringing your yard waste which is what your Christmas tree will be categorized as.
They offer a reduce rate for Christmas tree recycling as yard waste for a $12 minimum charge per trip. They won't accept trees with flocking, but the Christmas trees and decorations on them will be accepted as yard waste.
In case you bought a huge tree you must know that they won't take anything over 8' in length, so you can chop it down to 8' or less. You may as well find a lot of other yard waste to recycle, maybe help a neighbor out and bring in their yard waste to recycle along with yours, because the fee includes up to 320 pounds of yard waste.
You can get a copy of the Factoria recycling and transfer station Fact Sheet here.
More rules: Customers must wear a mask or request one at the scale house. Customers must show proof that they live or do business in the King County solid waste service area. Seattle and Milton are not part of the King County solid waste service area.
