TBZ followed up with an email to Escape to Peace in Bellevue.  They provide confidential crisis support to teen survivors of trafficking and sexual assault in King County.

Their site reports that they provide "one-to-one self-regulation therapy, supportive services, and life skills in a safe, caring environment".

Founded by Carol Loya, a Bellevue business owner of Truce Spa, after witnessing sex trade abuses in Thailand in 2011.  Her bio from Escape to Peace divulges that on her mission as a former Ambassador for the non-profits Shared Hope and Not Abandoned, that the city of Pattaya, Thailand, that encompasses over 800 bars, "is estimated to have as many as 1,000 girls or more for sale on its infamous Walking Street."  Loya would take the girls to dinner to talk and then bring them to safety in a safe house.

Loya formed Escape to Peace in 2013, a 501(c)3 nonprofit.  She began getting referrals from the YWCA in Seattle and from Union Gospel Mission, that led to working with youth in the Juvenile Drug Court and the Truancy Court, leading to more connections with school counselors.

Wanting to know more about trafficking in King County, TBZ reached out to Kelly Mangiaracina, JD,  King County Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) Task Force (CSEC) Policy and Program Manager.

She referred me to the CSEC website that provides trainings to learn more about the issue that are open to the public and hosted online.  Unfortunately during daytime hours when many of the trainings are being offered, TBZ is not able to attend.

Emails from Mangiaracina contained the link to Youth Support Resources in King County.  This webpage lists organizations largely around King County but not exclusively to that area that help teens and families.  Youth advocacy, substance abuse, mental health, employment and healthcare are just some of the resources available.

We last reported about human trafficking at this link.  We are interested and reaching out to learn more about the problem of trafficking and youth trafficking in the greater King County area including Washington state.
