Bellevue's Affordable Housing Strategy Set To Exceed It's Goals
In its Council Roundup Highlighting affordable housing wins announcement, the City of Bellevue received a positive bi-annual progress report on the Affordable Housing Strategy plans adopted in 2017 with affordable housing progress, 100 shelter beds for men and 772 additional affordable units planned for development.
Legislative changes to the affordable housing strategy allows for decreasing minimum residential parking near public transit and expanding eligibility to increase use of the Multifamily Tax Exemption program.
State House Bill 1590 allocating sales tax revenue for affordable housing provided $1.66 millions to 19 agencies to support human services relating to housing, and another $6 million for "affordable housing capital projects through a request for proposals." Additional capital funding will go to the Eastside Men's Shelter, Eastgate Supportive Housing and Illahee Apartments according to the announcement.
