New East Bellevue Demonstration Greenway Project To Support Bicyclists Safety
Later this month you may notice new traffic circles located in the new East Bellevue Demonstration Greenway project located along 166th and 165th Avenues, from Southeast 14th Street to Northup Way.
The greenway project is designed to help bicyclists travel around the two-mile long stretch of road includes adding bicycle pavement markings for better visibility near busy intersections; traffic circles decorated with pavement artwork; relocated stop signs to minimize stops bicyclists must make; wayfinding signs to help direct people; and slower speed limits for cars (20 mph).
More improvements may be added later such as speed bumps depending on how well the initial changes meet the goals of safety and ease of bicycling in the project area.
